Liberté I: Al Dente Trattoria

7 Mais 09

In celebration for the girl’s freedom and man’s new beginnings..the couple decided to head to Al Dente. Al Dente is a really special place for the couple, or at least for me! That was the place which Vampy took me for our first anniversary. Something which i didnt blogged about then. The first visit to the place was filled with mix emotions – unsettled, nervous, stress, sweet and they all still had a barrier between us. Perhaps a sense of insecurity, unfamiliarity and awkwardness.

One other reason which made us decided to head back to Al Dente is their yummie wood-fired pizza! One which we would call it the best of all that we’ve tried (in Singapore at least). Thursday night was especially quiet..with only a few other tables dining besides us. Mainly Caucasians to name. Like i say, i think they are the ones who really knows how to enjoy life coz they have less restrictions than us.

The waiter handed us the menu and honestly, i think i only looked at the appetisers and pizzas. Pizza is a must since that was our aim yea? ;D

The toasted garlic bread which was served to us with 2other sauces to go with.

PhotobucketThe night’s view.

Yupps. The nights view was especially quiet and soothing. Different from other weekends night when the esplanade pathways are littered with people sitting around and chatting. Compared to the usual nights of noise and that night’s ‘silence’, it feels particularly peaceful.

This is my happier man. :) hugs.

Named “al dente”

The wood fired pizza is really awesome! With a well-cooked crust..crispy with the right thickness. The toppings were cooked into the base and the cheese on top was chewy. How nice is that!! The only thing is the avocado which both of us didnt really like it. But i supposed its to allow the pizza to have a smoother taste!

The culprit – Avocado.

Ravioli!

Woo. This ravioli is awesome!! IT’s the nicest ravioli i’ve eaten. I cant remember exactly whats in the sauce but i know there’s white wine. The amazing thing about this ravolli is that the pasta on the outside is not too starchy. It doesnt have the “sticky-feel” which i reckoned that it’s not easy to cook. Coz it depends on how the dough is made and then cooked also. But the amazing thing goes to the cheese in it! Rich and saltish, not nauseous-inducing. And there’s still veg, spinach, inside…perhaps making it particularly nice. The sauce is also one amazing thing. It’s so tasty and the salty base has also contributed to an enjoyable experience w the raviolli! :D

A really slow dinner. Enjoyable.

Back to about 19 months ago….

First Month Anniversary - 12 Octobre 07.

Nothing was official; only fling-ship was official. I remembered myself being frantically thinking of what to wear for the night. It was the first and I had the impression that he’s one who’s super consicous of what his ‘companion’ wears.

I reached esplanade area feeling really nervous; begin to perspire out of increasing adrenaline rush.. I received the man’s phone-call asking meet him at Colours by the Bay before he brings me to our destination. I remember clearly one line which he said for the night was how he actually told the waiter that he’s gonna fetch his girlfriend! As much as I denied about that being a good thing.. *The secret denial*

The pictures were awkward for the night. I cant look directly into his eyes…I cant really stare into the camera knowing that he’s judging every thing of me. Oh my, thats how things were in the beginning. Unnatural and clumsy-feeling, on my side..
