Because we miss Japan’s delicacies just a few days after we were back..we decided to check out Watami (Singapore) for the 28th anniversary. Doesnt matter if it’s the middle-range food, coz we really wanted to find food as close to Jap’s as possible i guess. And we were rejected by the Watami in Japan since it was full house.. during the New Year period…we decided to give the Singapore one a try!
And also partly because the menu looks almost exactly like the one they had over in Japan. We were attracted by the menu then; it really made the food look so delicious!
This was yummy for its tinge of sour amongst the garlic! But it”s not exactly the very fresh scallops that you’re talking about here.
This has to be the closest to what we had in Sapporo…in a cheap vending machine style shop at Sapporo train station. Yummy! The sweet sauce resembles that alil too much.. Might be the most satisfying dish
Sukiyaki Nabe
We always have qualms about the soup being too lil after boiling for a while. But it’s nice regardless. Reminds me of the “private” dinner at Shiraoya!
We were super craving for the Japanese Gyozas! They are just so nice. I dont particularly like the chinese Gyozas but the Japanese style appeals to us very much. This, in the menu, resembles too much like the one we had in Japan. So nice that we had 2 servings then. But this, it looks the same, but taste different. It’s not as crispy compared to the Japanese, not as juicy and alil too big for the essence to be properly carried out. But well, it’s still has a score of about 5.5-6/10 since we had our expectations reined high.

Hotate Cream Croquette
This wasnt very special. But it did its job well in filling our stomachs.
Personally, i quite like the place. It reminds me of the Bonenkai dinner we saw in Japan. Japanese language and voices in a joyous mood. It is also pretty much value for money for the kind of prices they charge for the food. I would return coz some of its food really reminds me of Japan.
